Depart the Hobart waterfront for a ninety minute drive through Hobart and its suburbs following the Derwent River Valley into the heart of Tasmania to Mt Field National Park, Tasmania’s oldest National Park and is most famous for Russell Falls and it’s Tall Trees. We enjoy some of Tasmania’s “Great Short Walks” at Mt. Field National Park and in the afternoon after leaving the park we will stop to meet some of our local wildlife at the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary.
At Mt Field National Park we will walk a series of short walks at Mt. Field following the beautiful forested trails to Russell Falls and Horseshoe Falls. We then head further into the National Park and explore the Tall Trees Track where we walk amongst the Giants of the Forests with the local swamp gums towering 80 metres above. We can enjoy a lunch break in one of the numerous beautiful settings at Mt. Field before continuing onwards for the day. (a stop will be added on route to Mt Field National Park where you will have an opportunity to pick up a takeaway sandwich/roll for a lunch break, optional extra)
Next stop is Bonorong Wildlife Park where you can wander amongst and hand feed the local Kangaroos, Wallabies, see Tasmanian Devils, Wombats and many more of our unique local animals.
